Overall Really Nice

Nelson, Bend, Oregon

I would give this chair about a 3.5. Overall I'm pretty impressed with the quality of construction and condition in which it arrived. It's also very comfortable, though some with wider hips may find the curling up of the seat on the sides to be a bit too tight. I often like to sit with my leg folded under the other leg that's touching the ground, and I can't really do that with this chair. But I couldn't really do it with an Aeron either so I won't criticize for that, it's just the design.

And speaking of design. I DO like it, overall very much. But it could be better. My main criticism, one very big one in particular, has to do with the metal piece that connects the headrest to the main seat back. Both of the ends (or top and bottom) flair out to accommodate the three screws on each end. The end that connects to the headrest simply has rounded corners, and it's OK I guess. But the part that really bothers me is the other end that connects to the seat back. All of a sudden it turns into GOTHIC design. The sides of it flair out but are pointy, and then they both converge at the bottom to basically form a sharp triangle shape. It betrays the entire rest of the design concept. With all due respect, whoever designed that part needs to get a good talkin' to.

This chair could be even better if that was fixed, and would get extra points if they could make it look more like the connectors on the Eames Lounge. It would also be nice to not see all the screws but that might be hard to do with a product that consumers need to assemble themselves.

Overall, it's a really neat and unique chair. It seems comfortable but I've only had it a day. I think it's a good value. But that one glaring design mistake should be resolved. There are no pictures of that part of the chair on the product page, so you readers will need to take my word for it.

Also, be ready to practice patience waiting for your order to come, especially if you are on the west coast. Not a big deal, but the shipping and tracking info could use some work.
