Soft rug, but sheds

We love the neutral colour and soft wool of this rug but I find that I’m sweeping every day because it sheds. Not sure if it’s because it’s just new, and needs to wear out a bit but it’s been a daily, sometimes twice a day sweep with having a 7-year playing on it. I still like the look and have received compliments.
