5 home storage tips

As spring is slowly approaching, a new desire to tidy things up is rising. And it starts here, with beautiful and practical accessories that do double duty in every room of the house. So go ahead, let your inner OCD out to play!

1

A tray for the bathroom

Tired of rummaging around in the bathroom every morning for your makeup and skincare products? Place your favourite (or most attractive!) ones on a stylish decorative tray.

You’ll instantly create an elegant and practical display, and save yourself some precious time on hectic mornings (did someone say another Americano for the road?).

2

Missing pens?

Pens seem to suffer the same (and very sad) fate as socks: they just mysteriously go missing.

And the ones that don’t disappear without a trace seem to multiply and spill out of old pencil holders, or show up in places they should never be in the first place (oh hello there, Sharpie under the sofa).

Put an end to this tedious (and untidy) everyday occurrence by turning planters into pencil holders. Then place them in a variety of strategic spots around the house.

This way, you’ll always have a pen within reach when you need one—without having to sacrifice on style
(or your sanity!).

3

Baskets to the rescue!

Whether it’s because there are simply too many of them to begin with, or not enough time to put them all away properly, accessories never seem to stay organized for very long...

To contain this unwanted clutter, assign each accessory its own basket or catchall so that you can easily store (and find) purses, scarves, gloves and jewelry.

4

Tidy is in the bag (when it’s in a bowl)

Some everyday items (think notebooks, small toys, electronic gadgets, knitting needles, yarn, etc.) just aren’t storage-friendly.

The solution? For an uncluttered look, arrange them in beautiful bowls (the bigger the better!) on a console or side table, or even at the foot of the sofa. Your everyday items will be neatly tucked away in style while remaining at your fingertips (perfect for when you’re itching to knit).

5

Take command of bills, paperwork and scrap paper

Given the amount of paper piling up on the hall table, the kitchen counter and sometimes even on your dresser (the horror!), it’s hard to believe in something as foreign as a paperless society.

To free up some space and help get things sorted, place bills and other papers in attractive storage trays, depending on their size or intended use.

Set up your command centre or “organization station” in the kitchen, hallway or home office for easy, anytime access. And long live the home that is as tidy
as it is inviting!
