DETERMINE SEAT HEIGHT
To determine whether you need counter stools or bar stools, you first need to measure your countertop height.
The height of your seat should be 10"- 12" (25 cm - 30 cm) lower than the countertop.
COUNTER STOOL

BAR STOOL

PRO TIP
Leave at least 24" (60 cm) of space between the edge of your countertop and the next obstacle in the room
to allow people to sit comfortably on the stools while still allowing people to pass behind them.
DETERMINE THE NUMBER OF STOOLS
To determine the number of seats you need at your counter or bar, measure your countertop length and divide it by
the width of the stool. If you end up with fractions, round down to the next whole number.
STOOLS WITHOUT ARMRESTS

On average, 24" (61 cm) is the amount of space needed for a person to sit comfortably. Therefore, take the total counter length and divide it by 24".
For example: 84" + 24" = 3.5 - You can fit 3 stools.
STOOLS WITH ARMRESTS

For stools with armrests, allow 30" per seat for optimum comfort. Therefore, take the total counter length and divide it by 30".
For example: 84" + 30" = 2.8 - You can fit 2 stools.
Please note that the figures provided above are estimates based on average stool width. We strongly recommend comparing
these figures to the dimensions provided for each stool width on their respective product pages.
