This trend takes inspiration from two opposing trends, minimalism and maximalism, which might sound contradictory. However, after seeing a boom in maximalist decor in recent years, we are going back to a more balanced version of the trend by choosing only a few statement pieces or accent colours in one room. 3.Colourful Neutrals
As the name suggests, colourful neutrals are the perfect compromise between a colour and a neutral shade. Although they might sound contradictory, they are easily understood as shades or tints of pure hues typically found on the colour wheel. As they have been darkened, lightened, greyed or toasted, they are referred to as neutrals and are perfect to add character to a room. Designers and paint companies alike have dictated mauve-based neutrals and mocha shades as being trend-setting hues for 2025. Understanding colour theory
Having a hard time navigating through all the colour options? Understanding the basics in terms of how colours are classified is a great starting point! Colours are the hues one would typically find on a colour wheel (or put more simply, in a rainbow). All of these colours have their own tints, created by adding white to a colour, and their own shades, created by adding black to a colour. Neutrals however, are not found on a colour wheel or rainbow. Black and white, and every shade of grey in between the two, are considered achromatic as they lack colour.
